
Weltenburg is the real deal, a true Monastic brewery, like those in Belgium, only making lager beers. The abbey, of the Benedictine order, is
Founded by Irish or Scottish monks in 620 AD, it is also held to
be the oldest monastery in Bavaria. Records show brewing began in 1050 AD.
The present abbey was built between 1716 & 1739 by the Asam
family, Patrons of the monastery.

This robust, powerful dark double bock derives
it's name from the Baroque master-builder family Asam which renovated the
monastery around 1716 AD.
