Weltenburger Kloster Bier

The worlds oldest monastery Brewery Since 1050 AD

Weltenburg is the real deal, a true Monastic brewery, like those in Belgium, only making lager beers. The abbey, of the Benedictine order, is

on the banks of the Danube River, in Kelhiem Germany. The Priests and Monks still brew the beer using Lagering rooms over 300 hundred years old

Founded by Irish or Scottish monks in 620 AD, it is also held to be the oldest monastery in Bavaria. Records show brewing began in 1050 AD.
The present abbey was built between 1716 & 1739 by the Asam family, Patrons of the monastery.
