The worldwide trademark dispute between Anheuser-Busch and the Czech Republic's Budejovicky Budvar has brought an unprecedented amount of attention to Czech beers in the US. Rob Neuner, president of the Czech Beer Importers (Darien, CT)—which imports the controversial Czechvar (as it has come to be known in the States) as well as Rebel brands—can thank A-B for the publicity, though he feels it's not the only thing driving his product's sales: "The people who are drinking the Czechvar now are people who knew about Budvar and knew about the quality more than the whole trademark dispute." In addition, the large-scale marketing efforts of Pilsner Urquell (formerly through Guinness, now part of South African Breweries) have shown Americans that Bohemian brew is certainly worth looking into.

Alcohol content: 5% of volume
A lagering period of not less than 90 days, a great provenance and a 700 years
old brewing tradition guarantee the exceptional quality of Czechvar Premium
Lager. Czechvar light lager has a thick rich head and markedly golden yellow
colour. The bouquet is pronounced, typically beer-like, accentuating a hoppy
aroma. Its bitterness is of a weak to medium intensity, gentle to slightly
coarse character with a short-lived aftertaste. The fullness is medium and malty.
The lager has a medium to robust body, which makes the drinker feel like taking
another sip.
