Coopers Brewery
Australia

Read this review published by Alcoholreviews.com

Family owned since 1852, Coopers is the only family-owned Australian brewery. Located in Adelaide, the brewery continues to brew using only Australian ingredients and its own 85 year old yeast strain. Traditional top-fermentation in jarrah vats with a second fermentation in the bottle produces the distinctive cloudy sediment. Australians enjoy this sediment by gently rousing it before drinking. Coopers never filters or pasteurizes its beers which allows the robust flavours to be fully enjoyed.

COOPERS SPARKLING ALE

SPARKLING ALE
possesses the cloudy appearance as it did when Thomas Cooper made his first batch. The deep golden colour and solid head combined with the lively effervescence make this a classic brew. Sparkling Ale has a somewhat restrained hop character which is perfect for hot, dry climates. The dry, fruity flavour has a lingering sweetness. (5.6% ABV)
  • Rated 5 mugs by the Mark Shields Beer Guide (250 Australian and Imported Beers tasted and rated).
  • Combine with spicy foods, salads, or a Dagwood sandwich for a real treat.
ORIGINAL PALE ALE
is a little lighter than Sparkling Ale. Golden amber coloured, the Australian Pride of Ringwood Hops lend a firm, bitter hop tang. Consistant from beginning to end, OPA is medium bodied loaded with hops and malt flavours. (4.3% ABV)
  • Rated 5 mugs by the Mark Shields Beer Guide (250 Australian and Imported Beers tasted and rated).
  • Serve with creamy soups, Australian lamb, or after the rugby game.

COOPERS OPA

BEST EXTRA STOUT
is robust, complex and very individualistic. The dark mahogany colour is complemented by the creamy, tan head. This stout is mildly bitter with a smooth, silky finish. A superb balance between the hops and roasted black malt continues to improve in the bottle like a fine wine. (6.6% ABV)
  • 1998 Gold Medal Winner World Beer Championships
  • Savour with barbeque, Greek dishes, or thick potato pancakes.
