The Celis Tradition

Celis beers were developed by internationally renowned Belgian brewmaster Pierre Celis. In the late 20th century, Pierre, who had spent his life brewing in his native Hoegarden, Belgium, opened a brewery in Austin, Texas and brought Celis to America.
Today, thanks to the commitment of the Michigan Brewing Co., an award winning craft brewery itself, Celis beers are once again being poured by happy beer connoisseurs.

Celis White is seasoned with Curacoa orange peel and coriander and is brewed from a unique recipe first brewed in Belgium in 1453. It is top fermented and brewed from 50% raw winter wheat and 50% malt. The beer is hopped with Williamette and Cascade hops from the Northwest.
Awarded two consecutive gold medals in the herb-spice category at the Great American Beer Festival in 1992 and 1993, Celis brewery is proud to be at the forefront of the recent surge in popularity of white beer in the United States. Its sweetness balances many spicy foods and it is especially good with fruits, salads, delicate sauces, fish and poultry or as an aperitif.
Celis Raspberry is a traditional Belgian-style fruit beer with full flavor and tartness. It is brewed with pale malts from the Great Plains and hard winter wheat from the Midwest. Select hops add balance and contribute to its seductive aroma. Imported Belgian raspberry juice is added during the second fermentation to give it a real fruit flavor and a rich rosy hue. It is delicious on its own as a refresher and is the perfect complement to bread and cheese, vanilla ice cream or chocolate cake.
Grand Cru, or special vintage ale, was originally brewed in small quantities in Belgium for special occasions such as celebrations, festivals and weddings. Celis Grand Cru is brewed according to a traditional recipe and uses pale barley malts, Saaz and Cascade hops, Curacoa orange peel and select spices. The combination produces an ale strong in character with a subtle fruitiness and complex flavor notes. It is best served at cellar temperatures and pours to a deep golden hue with a light, full head. Celis Grand Cru goes well with heartier foods such as beef tenderloin, smoked sausage, wild game or enchiladas.
